Generation X & Y - Talking the same language?

Today’s female high-flyers are young (Sunday Times Business Special Report, 6th July 2008).  Based on July’s Management Today’s survey, these Generation Y women have an average age of just 31, are in control, confident, passionate, competitive, risk-takers – who simply love what they do.

Whilst these women undoubtedly represent the very best of today’s entrepreneurial talent, other recent articles also support the view that today’s Generation Y employees are looking for something different from work than their Generation X predecessors.

Recognising these differences in today’s multi-generational workforce, we believe it is time for Generation X business leaders to review their approaches.  In our experience, too many businesses are still trying to communicate and develop their employees in ways that work for them rather than the people they are there to lead.

Working with our clients, we at NKD help businesses develop communication and training solutions that ‘speak’ to their employees in a way that truly engages them and bridges this generational gap.
